10 things you probably didn’t know about me!

10 things you probably didn’t know about me!

All right guys, it’s been a busy summer and last week or so I’ve totally slacked on the blog. So this week I’ve decided to do something a little lighthearted but fun. Since this is my blog and you obviously come here to read my opinions, and things about me… I’ve decided to tell you the top 10 things that you might not know about me.

1. This one might be common knowledge but I love dancing. Like every kid growing up my parents through me and dance lessons. Ever since then I’ve loved dancing whether it’s while I’m cleaning or any bar. If I hear a good beat I can’t control myself. I know you’re thinking maybe she’s a good dancer… Truth be told I’m incredibly white, but maybe that’s why my oldest sister manages to con me into dance lessons at her studio every year. Which is fine because I get to try my heart out in a little tap, jazz, and even the dreaded hip hop.

2. I attempted to play piano for 8 years! I really tried to stick it out but honestly I was never nearly as good as I could’ve been. I can still sit down and read music but it’s a little rough! I think if I had a piano now, I’d actually enjoy teaching myself more. It’s funny how our stubborn attitude shifts with age.

3. I love trying new things. Whether it’s trying new food, seeing new places, meeting new people, or experiencing new adventures. I love stepping out of my box. In fact, it’s probably so much that I don’t actually have a box.

4. My music taste makes zero sense. I spend hours listening to red dirt, and if I had to pick one category for the rest of my life that would be it. However, give me one drink I’ll rap every Eminem song, but don’t put it by me to mellow out with some Jack Johnson or Jazz.

5. I’m addicted to choloula. Not a little bit addicted, I put it on almost anything. It doesn’t even matter what time of day, it’s breakfast that stuffs going on my eggs, if it’s nighttime I put it on my popcorn. I can’t get enough it’s sad!

6. I suck at saying no, actually I’m so bad at it that I probably don’t say it. I’m kind of a yes girl, and I’ve been that way for a while but it tends to bite me in the butt. I say yes to everything and the next thing you know I’m sleeping two hours at night trying to catch up.

7. I love a good challenge. I don’t have to win, and I don’t have to compete with every friend that I have. I love setting all these mini goals for myself! Sometimes it’s running a triathlon, sometimes it’s something I just didn’t think I could do, and sometimes it’s just friendly challenge. It’s my way of setting mini goals and creating something for me to focus my attention on. Even if it’s just for a few minutes!

8. I thrive in awkward situations, in fact I create them sometimes for my own entertainment. I always say “you never learn who someone is until you put them in anawkward situation. Seeing how they react gives you insight to who they are.” It’s my own way of creating a game with myself, and it’s just part of how I read people. #sorrynotsorry

9. However, I’m an awkward and clumsy person. I have an archive of embarrassing stories about myself. I wouldn’t even know where to start if I wanted to write a blog about that. From falling in the mall, to clotheslining myself playing ultimate frisbee, and tearing my knee after flashing everyone accidentally at a pep rally…it’s safe to say I lack grace.

10. I come off as cynical but truly I use a lot of sarcasm to avoid actual feelings. I have a big heart and I feel like that’s frowned upon in today’s society.

Bonus: more commonly known but a bonus fact, I have an obnoxious laugh. It’s not a cute giggle… I seriously wheeze and can’t breath, and I follow it up with a snort. Add any amount of alcohol in me, or even just a solid joke and it’s a boisterous cackle…it’s genetic but it’s still embarrassing. I also laugh at everything, even at times that I should be serious. I was hoping it was just a phase but it’s not seeming to phase out.

I know this weeks blog was less than helpful for your own life, but I feel like if you come back to read this every week you should at least have some insight on who I am.

Until next week,

Julissa
